We are seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to perform detailed failure investigations, manage aspects of our laboratory, and work directly with clients. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, hands on testing experience, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, small team environment. Responsibilities and compensation will scale with experience.
Conduct failure analyses on components and mechanical systems.
Perform self-guided research and testing to support analysis findings
Prepare detailed engineering failure analysis reports and present findings to clients.
Perform and oversee mechanical testing and metallurgical evaluations.
Coordinate and supervise lab technicians.
Perform specialized lab testing procedures.
Perform Fitness-for-Service assessments.
Manage workflow, equipment, and quality processes in the failure analysis lab.
Perform site visits to inspect components, collect evidence, and support client needs.
Work directly with clients to troubleshoot problems and communicate results.
Contribute to improvements in lab capabilities and testing procedures.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Metallurgical, or Mechanical Engineering.
3 years of relevant industry or laboratory experience.
Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle (site visits required).
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (or eligibility in near future).
Experience working in industrial environments, especially power generation or refining.
Familiarity with metallography, microscopy, nondestructive testing, or mechanical testing equipment.
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as ASTM, NACE, and API
Experience in consulting or client-facing engineering roles.
Experience in finite element analysis or fitness-for-service assessments.
Team leadership or small-group coordination experience.
